Terms of use

These terms cover your use of plaw.io and the content published on it. Reading this site costs nothing and commits you to nothing. If Plaw runs work for your company, that work is governed by a signed agreement, not by this page. Effective August 7, 2026.

What the content is

The glossary, the code pages, and the rest of the informational content are educational. They explain how standards like NFPA 25 and NFPA 72 work in plain language, with citations to the standard, edition, and section. They are not legal advice and not engineering advice. Plaw, Inc. is not a law firm and does not practice law.

Before you act on anything you read here that touches a real fire protection system, confirm it with your servicing contractor and your authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). Adopted editions and local amendments vary. The AHJ's reading governs, not ours.

Paid work is governed elsewhere

The Operating Audit and monthly operation are commercial engagements. Each is governed by its own separately signed agreement between Plaw, Inc. and the client. Nothing on this website creates an engagement, a client relationship, or any obligation on either side. If a signed agreement and this page ever say different things about paid work, the signed agreement wins.

Ownership and reuse

The content on plaw.io is owned by Plaw, Inc. Quote it and cite it with a link back; that is welcome and you do not need to ask. Wholesale reproduction, scraping to republish, or passing pages off as your own is not permitted.

NFPA standards are copyrighted by the National Fire Protection Association. This site paraphrases obligations in original prose and cites the standard, edition, and section. It never reproduces table rows or clause text, and it links to official sources rather than mirroring documents. Hold your own reuse to the same line.

No warranty

The informational content is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Codes change by edition and by jurisdiction, and a page that was accurate when written can go stale. Plaw, Inc. disclaims all warranties on the website's content and limits its liability arising from use of this website to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law rules.
